In the lobby of NWQ Investment Management Company, an illuminated Water Veil measuring 34 ft. tall and 4 ft. wide stands as a dramatic backdrop against the main staircase of the three-floor lobby. Water falls along the translucent screen in cascading waves and into a stainless steel reflecting pool with a river stone bed. The reflecting pool extends forward to allow the water to collect and fall in rivulets over the edge, creating a soft curtain of water. A floating granite water cube supports one end of the shallow pool, with the NWQ logo chiseled on the front surface. A flickering mound of water rises from the center of the cube allowing water to envelop the cube and create ripple patterns. The Water Veil is illuminated by a series of powerful LED lights to provide a translucent, color-changing water fall that can be seen throughout the lobby.Architect: Aref & Associates, El Segundo, CA |
