Birmingham Prime Matter
Created for the McWane Center in Birmingham, Alabama this towering fire and water feature stands outside of the main museum building. The triangular copper column, patinaed as bronze, reaches 30 ft. upward and rests on top of an 8 ft. tall block of ridged black granite.

Water covers all surfaces as it cascades downward over both the copper column and granite block. At fifteen minute intervals, for one minute, the column releases streaks of fire that climb upward, clinging to the surfaces of the triangular column of water. During the first ten seconds of each interval of fire, a dense haze obscures the column producing a vertical cloud of fire appearing from the inside.
