The Archimedes Gate Water Sculpture was commissioned by the Water Museum in Shimane, Japan.
The sculpture integrates the mountainous landscape with the architecture of the museum. Five meters in diameter, the ring is crafted of polished black granite faces and curved copper channels along which the water flows. Water magically adheres to the outer and inner surfaces of the ring, which appears to float on top of the water surrounding it.
